Best Finance & Crypto MCP Servers, Compared Honestly
Mintmark Dispatch explains what finance and crypto MCP servers actually do, which kinds exist, and how to give an AI agent access to money-related tools without handing it the keys.
A finance or crypto MCP server is a small service that exposes money-related tools to an AI assistant through the Model Context Protocol. Instead of pasting a CSV into a chat window, you let the assistant call a tool: list this customer’s subscriptions, read last month’s invoices, fetch the token balances for an address, or pull a price series. The assistant asks, the server answers, and your credentials stay on the server side.
That sounds tidy, but the category is wide and uneven. Some servers are official connectors from companies such as Stripe, Plaid, Xero and QuickBooks. Others are community projects for market data or blockchain explorers, and some are experiments with one or two tools. A directory helps, and the most complete one we have found is the finance MCP server list on BusinessMCP. At the time of writing it lists 18 servers, with official connectors first, verified entries next and the rest ordered by tool count. It is a good place to start, and it is a starting point, not a verdict.
How we judge a server is simple. First, what can it do: read only, or can it move money? The Stripe Agent Toolkit on BusinessMCP, for example, exposes eight tools including refunds and subscription cancellation, while the Blockscout server is described as read-only on-chain data. Those are very different risk profiles. Second, how is it authenticated, and can you scope the key? Third, who maintains it?
The articles here follow those questions:

One rule runs through all of it: treat an agent with a money tool like a new junior employee. Give it read access first, watch what it does, and require a human to approve anything that spends, refunds or sends. Nothing here is financial, tax or investment advice, and server features change, so confirm details on each server’s own page before you rely on them.

Frequently asked questions
What is a finance MCP server?
It is a service that exposes finance-related tools, such as payments, bank data, accounting records or market prices, to an AI assistant over the Model Context Protocol. The assistant calls the tools and the server holds the credentials.
What is a crypto MCP server?
A crypto MCP server gives an assistant tools for crypto data or actions, for example on-chain balances, token metadata, prices or order books. Some are read-only; a few can interact with wallets, so check the tool list first.
Are finance MCP servers safe to use?
They can be, if you use scoped read-only credentials, keep the connected set small and require human approval for any action that moves money. Prompt injection through tool output is a real risk, so treat results as untrusted data.
How many finance MCP servers are there?
BusinessMCP’s finance directory lists 18 at the time of writing, covering payments, accounting, spend management, market data and blockchain data. The community ecosystem is larger and changes quickly.
Can an AI agent trade crypto through MCP?
Some servers expose market data and analysis, and others interact with wallets. Trading carries real financial risk, so use read-only analysis first and require manual confirmation for any order or transfer.
